Thank you for opening this survey link for the gender bias survey. This survey is part of a research study—The Humanitarian Gender Study—conducted at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), an academic medical center of Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

The research is on gender bias in the humanitarian sector. The study includes two surveys of a global population of humanitarian practitioners. This survey is on gender bias in the workplace and includes questions to inform future interventions. There is another survey which focuses on gender-based violence (GBV) in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and response.

Each survey should take you about 20-30 minutes to complete. You may choose to participate in one or both of the surveys. If you are interested in participating in an individual interview or focus group discussion as part of this study, you will have the option to indicate your interest so we may contact you.

We ask for your email address so we can share the second survey link and contact you if you are interested in participating in an interview or focus group discussion. Your email address will be removed from the data before analysis takes place, so the information will be de-identified. Your email address will not be shared with third parties. We will protect the privacy and security of your information. The data will be stored securely, and it will not be possible to identify you in any outputs from this research.

Participation is voluntary, and you may stop the survey at any time. If at any point during the survey you decide that you no longer wish to participate, your Personal Information that has already been collected to the time of your withdrawal will be kept and used to guarantee the integrity of the study and/or for any other purposes permitted under applicable data protection and privacy laws. Although not of direct benefit to you, results from this study may strengthen future humanitarian programming and improve gender equality in the humanitarian workplace. It will not cost you anything to participate in the study. You will not receive compensation for your time to complete the survey.

If you have any questions or concerns about the survey, you can contact the Principal Investigator at BIDMC [Dr. Jennifer Scott at jscott3@bidmc.harvard.edu or +1 617-667-4165] If you would like to talk to someone not involved in the study, you can contact the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Human Subjects Protection Office at +1 (617) 975-8500.

Thank you for your time and participation!
